During a keynote presentation at Dynamic Communities’ annual Community Summit North America, Microsoft announced that Dynamics 365 Business Central will be the focus of Microsoft’s investments in the SMB segment with various areas of innovation for today’s modern business.
Microsoft assured it will continue to support Dynamics GP, continuing to provide regulatory (tax) and security updates through 2028; however, the October 2022 release will be the last release adding other new features.
First released in 1993, Great Plains Software was acquired by Microsoft in 2001 and renamed the solution Dynamics GP. Dynamics GP grew to be one of the most popular mid-market ERP systems available in North America with tens of thousands of clients. The solution was developed “pre-cloud” and companies still utilizing it either manage their own servers or choose to leverage a hosting partner.
Today, new ERP sales from Microsoft are almost entirely made up of Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.
Microsoft plans on making another official statement on the status of Dynamics GP moving forward. Please continue to follow our blog for updated information as it becomes available.
Microsoft Vice President of Dynamics 365 BC and SMB Business Apps, Mike Morton during the keynote also recognized four “Dynamics Migration Factory” partners in North America.
These partners were recognized for having the tools and resources to ensure a successful transition for businesses moving from Dynamics GP to Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Of the four Dynamics Migration Factory partners recognized by Microsoft, only Velosio – through its Stratos Cloud Alliance Indirect CSP Provider program – is in the business of helping other Microsoft partners through this transition.
With over 30 years of Dynamics solutions experience, Stratos Cloud Alliance has been supporting and enabling the growth of Dynamics Partners for the last decade.
Stratos Cloud Alliance has the GP to BC migration tools and staff, implementation and support packages, and sales and marketing resources that partners can use and promote under their own brand. Stratos Cloud partners retain their control and billing relationship with their customers.
Not only does Stratos Cloud Alliance help partners sell the value of Business Central but the value of the entire Microsoft Cloud stack as marketing, sales, implementation and support skills and staff extends across Microsoft 365 family, Azure services, and Power Platform.
